Altoona Law Office Makes Holiday Special for Injured Man
September 27, 2007
Posted by: Attorney Edgar Snyder

I know it’s not the holiday season yet, but I would like to share an extraordinary tale from our Altoona, Pennsylvania law office. It’s about a time when the entire Altoona team pitched in to help out a man in an extraordinary way.

The client was a seriously injured man with small children to support. But seeing as how first party medical for wage loss doesn’t typically kick in for about 37 days, he was going to spend the Christmas holiday without any gifts for his kids. The insurance company didn’t care about this man or the holiday. To them, he was just another number.

That’s when the whole Altoona office chipped in and made three baskets of food and gifts. They delivered the baskets to his house, leaving them on the front porch. They didn’t sign a card or leave a note that read “from Edgar Snyder & Associates.” They simply said that the baskets were a surprise from Santa.

Soon after, the office received a phone call. It was the injured man. He said, “You’ll never guess what was found on the porch…” Then he started to cry.

The Altoona office was able to touch this man’s life in an exceptional way by working together to go above and beyond the call of duty. Working together, they helped him out because it’s just what they do – finding special ways everyday to make a difference.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: 2007 Pittsburgh Walk for the Cure
September 20, 2007

I was proud to attend a wonderful event this past weekend that benefited an incredible cause. The 2007 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) held their annual Walk to Cure Diabetes at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh. Flagstaff Hill was packed with people young and old who were excited to help raise money to find a cure for this disease.

It was also a special personal time for me because my grandson has juvenile diabetes. My wife and I sponsored the registration tent at the Walk and we walked with my grandson’s team, Eli’s Eagles. Thank you to my friends, family and colleagues at Edgar Snyder & Associates who walked with us or sponsored us.

My law firm also had their own program that raised over $1,500. One of my partners at the firm has a son with Juvenile Diabetes and he raised money for his son's team, Jacob’s Jewels.

It felt great to be a part of the 4,000-plus people that attended the JDRF Walk, which raised awareness and close to $800,000. I was honored to be a part of the efforts to help find a cure for diabetes. At my law firm, we see how devastating diabetes can be. Not only because we have loved ones and colleagues battling the disease, but because we represent clients who are disabled by diabetes and need Social Security Disability benefits since they are unable to work.

I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with this social networking stuff. So I set up a MySpace profile and a Facebook profile.

I’d heard about the websites, but I had no idea what they were. Thanks to the younger generation at our law firm and in my family, I was introduced to this great way to connect with new people.

I hope you’ll take a moment and visit my pages. Don’t forget to click “Add to Friends” when you’re on my profile – this way you can leave a comment to let me know what you think! Plus, it’s updated with links, news, and information all the time.

Injured Erie Client Awarded Over $1 Million
September 04, 2007
Posted by: Attorney Edgar Snyder

One of the most rewarding parts of being a personal injury attorney is helping someone put their life back together after a serious accident. A partner at my law firm, Attorney Todd Berkey, won a verdict the other day that will help a severely injured worker from Erie, Pennsylvania recover and move forward.

The injured man was using a crane on the job site when a conduit misplaced by the construction company led to his electrocution. He lives with pain, numbness, and swelling in his body from the electrical event.

Attorney Berkey helped this Erie resident fight to get money for his injuries, medical bills, lost wages, and other costs from the accident. A jury agreed that the company was responsible and awarded the worker over $1 million.

If you’ve ever talked with someone who’s been seriously hurt in an accident, then you know that they would trade anything to have their health back again. But sometimes that’s not an option. The next best thing is getting the money to rebuild your life and cover your costs.

I’m proud to say that the lawyers of Edgar Snyder & Associates were able to help this Erie, PA man on his journey into recovery. Congratulations to our client, as well as Attorney Todd Berkey and his team.
